RankBarn is a song-ranking site with optional profiles and RankBarn Plus. This page explains what we collect and why. We do not show ads or run advertising networks on the site, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
If you sign in, we store your email (from Google, a magic link, or a RankBarn email and password account), a username you choose, an optional display name, bio, and photo, and the appearance you pick. We use your email to sign you in, send sign-in links and password resets, and answer support requests. We do not send marketing email. Session cookies keep you signed in.
Your username, display name, photo, bio, favorite bands, featured cards, and the people you follow and who follow you are public on your profile. Finalized public lists can be seen by anyone with the link and may appear on your profile, in feeds, on artist pages, and in community stats. Your email is never shown to other people.
Lists you create are stored so you can finish and share them, along with their earlier published versions. Unlisted and private options are available with RankBarn Plus. Guest lists stay on this device until you export or save them. We also store your follows, bookmarks, favorites, notification and release preferences, and the profiles you block, so those features work. Results from RankGuess, a quiz we no longer offer, stay on your account and are included in your data export until you delete your account.
If you subscribe to RankBarn Plus, Stripe processes your payment. We store billing fields such as Stripe customer and subscription IDs, status, and period end so we can unlock Plus features. We do not store card numbers on RankBarn servers. You can manage or cancel in Settings through Stripe's customer portal.
Artist names, album art, track details, store links, and short preview clips come from Apple Music. We cache catalog metadata and store the preview links needed to run rankings. Preview audio is never downloaded or stored by RankBarn. When you view artwork or play a preview, your browser loads it directly from Apple's servers, so Apple receives your IP address and standard browser information, as described in Apple's privacy policy. We do not send your account details or rankings to Apple, and we do not send catalog data to advertising companies.
To limit abuse, we count requests per IP address. The address is stored only as a one-way hash, and the counts expire within a day. If you report a list or profile, we store the report and review it; reported content and the reporter's account may be seen by our moderators.
If the site is hosted on Vercel, we may use Vercel Analytics for page views and a few fixed-name product events (choosing an artist, completing or sharing a ranking, and claiming a guest ranking) to understand traffic, not to build ad profiles. These events omit search text, usernames, artist IDs, and ranking content, and respect Do Not Track. Other processors that help run the product are Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database, sign-in, and storage), Stripe (payments), Google (if you choose Google sign-in), and Apple (music data). They handle data on our behalf and may store it outside your country.
We use cookies for sign-in, a short-lived redirect after login, and your theme. Your browser also keeps some preferences on this device only, such as appearance, effects, preview volume, list density, and a guest ranking in progress. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear cookies and site data in your browser; you will need to sign in again, and guest progress may reset.
We keep your account data while your account exists. Deleting your account in Settings removes your profile, rankings, favorites, follows, achievements, and uploaded images from our live database and cancels any Plus subscription. Stripe keeps payment records it is required to keep by law, and database backups expire on our provider's schedule.
While signed in you can edit or delete your rankings, profile, and photo, download a copy of your account data, and delete your account in Settings. You can sign out at any time and cancel Plus from Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete your information, or to object to how it is used. To use them, email RankBarn.support@gmail.com from the address on your account so we can match the request.
RankBarn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
We update this page when the product changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will note significant changes on the site.
